Academic support

My book’s introduction starts off this way:

Representative democracy has failed because the “representatives” no longer represent the people who elected them, but rather themselves (the political elite) and the lobbyists and the businesses those lobbyists quite successfully represent (the economic elite). The means of selecting representatives (majority vote) and the artificial constraints that limit elections to two (and only two) parties result in the reality that even those who voted for a particular representative feel that they only partially represent their real principles and values.

Now there is an article in the Telegraph about an academic study that supports these ideas. Selfie high five!
